Photo Wednesday: Eating Reindeer in Finland
Last September I was part of an Eurail press trip to Finland. One of the highlights of that trip was visiting a reindeer farm in the Artic Circle, way up in the Laplands. I remember my heart beating fast when our guide gave me a handful of feed and suddenly then I was caught in a maze of antlers. As the reindeer ate gently from my hand, I ran my other hand over their soft coats. The reindeer moved effortlessly from palm to palm as they grazed.
Now, would you believe after having a delightful time feeding and petting reindeer they served us reindeer meat? Yes, I ate Rudolph and he was delicious!
