Photo Wednesdays: The Ranger of Anak Krakatau
I visited Anak Krakatau (Child of Krakatau), a ninety minute boat ride from Carita in West Java. The island has no inhabitants, because the volcano is active. In fact, due to seismic activity, the island grows on an average of five inches a week. While I was hiking up the side of the volcano, there was an earth tremor that measured 5.3 on the Richter scale.
Anak Krakatau is charged with a ranger. Hailing from North Sumatra, he is the only resident of the island. I don’t even know if that gun is real or if it’s a Beebe gun to shoot monitor lizards. Where is his shirt?

Hey Cous, where are the beautiful pics you have got us used to: I am sure this island has more to see than the good-hearted ranger?
Looking forward to seeing the pics…
