Photo Wednesday: Siomay Jack
Siomay (pronounced SHI-OAW-MY) is a popular street food dish in Indonesia. It is made from steamed fish, cabbage, potatoes and smothered in peanut sauce drizzled with lime juice and chilli. Siomay is one those dishes that have a Chinese influence. It is like dim sum.
This is Siomay Jack, he is in front of my school everyday. He doesn’t leave until that pot is empty. The kids seem to love it and order extra peanut sauce. I like siomay. Among all the street food options, it seems to have the least amount of calories, since it is steamed. When I order it, I have very little peanut sauce.
When you travel do you eat street food? What are your favorite dishes?
